5 Simple Steps to
File Income Tax Returns
STEP 1: Visit the income tax e-filing website. After
registering yourself, you must ‘Login Here’ to proceed to the e-filing portal.
STEP 2: You must proceed to the ‘Registered User’ Tab and
click on the ‘Login’ virtual switch. You will then be directed to a window,
where you need to enter the User ID. This is your PAN Number, Password, Date of
Birth, and the auto-generated CAPTCHA.
STEP 3: Carefully enter your credentials and click on the
Login Tab. You can view the previous/current history of your income tax returns
and also click on ‘Filing of ITR’. You will be directed to a new window, where
you can file the income tax return.
STEP 4: You have to enter your PAN, select the Assessment
Year, and then select the right ITR Form which you must file. If you are
salaried, you must file ITR using ITR 1 (SAHAJ) in the appropriate column. You
then proceed with your ITR Filing.
STEP 5: Once this is done, you must submit the Form and get
an acknowledgment within the requisite time frame.
